Feng Shui and the 5 Elements / Movements

Feng Shui and the 5 Elements / Movements

At workplaces or at home, you can create layouts with these five elements in an endless variety. How to use them:

To feel motivated: fire element
Ex: wool, carpet
Clothes and objects in red color
Fabrics with geometric designs

To activate creativity: wood element
Ex: floral patterned fabrics
Or wall coverings
Wooden objects and furniture
Natural flowers and plants

For the concentration: water element
Ex: glass accessories
Sculpture with running water
Glass washers
Pictures with landscapes of oceans

For financial growth: metal element
Ex: brass knobs
Metal sculptures
Steel furniture

For stability: earth element
Ex: gardener and terracotta pots
Ceramic objects
Natural stones

These elements together form a cycle of control where we observe how the elements dominate and control each other.

The Fire element is generated by the wood as we see in a fire. At the end of their flames, only the ash that feeds the Earth element remains.
It is in turn shaped rocks and metals.

From the rocks sprout the sources of the element Water, which in turn feeds the plants and trees, which are of the element Madeira. This is the cycle of creation or generation of the five elements.

That is: Wood nourishes Fire, which generates Earth, which engenders Metal, which generates Water, which nourishes Wood.

The creation cycle is a positive influence and is one of the greatest resources to achieve the harmony of the elements, being present in many environments that we consider beautiful, well decorated and prosperous.

You have already paid attention to the entrance of some oriental restaurants where we find: the aquarium or water mirror that represents the element Water, the plants represent the element Wood, the red fish the element Fire, the sand the element earth, and the stones the Metal element.

In our house we can create various arrangements such as this, for example, in an entrance hall in front of a mirror (water element), we can put flowers (element wood), in a ceramic pot of red (fire and earth). To bring the metal element we can put these arrangements on a steel or marble trimmer and we will have a balance of the five elements together, in a simple composition.

To use this philosophy and activate these energies inside and outside the home, the Chinese invented the Ba-gua, a map of Feng-Shui, related to some areas of our lives.

It is represented through the octogen, with its eight sides relating to the following areas: family and health / prosperity and abundance / success and fame / relationship and marriage / creativity and children / friends and travel / career and work / spirituality, knowledge and wisdom.
